Fernando Varela Signs with PAOK FC
Former Cape Verdean international joins Super League Greece club
Details of the move
Fernando Varela, the 36-year-old Cape Verdean defender, has signed a three-year contract with PAOK FC of the Super League Greece. The move comes with less than six months remaining on Varela's contract with his former club, Casa Pia AC.
Varela has been a mainstay in the Casa Pia AC defense since joining the club in 2022. His experience and leadership will be a valuable asset to PAOK FC as they compete for the Super League Greece title.
Varela has also represented Cape Verde at the international level, earning 45 caps and scoring 3 goals. He was a member of the Cape Verdean squad that reached the quarterfinals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
PAOK FC is currently in pre-season training and will begin their Super League Greece campaign on August 19th against Atromitos FC.
